The wine brand taking plastic out of the ocean thanks to YOU 

The Hidden Sea celebrates a meteoric eco milestone by giving away a case of wine to one lucky winner!  

South Australian wine brand, The Hidden Sea, is raising a glass this month as it marks removing and recycling over 10 MILLION single-use plastic bottles from the world’s oceans.  

Every time YOU buy a bottle, the equivalent of 10 plastic bottles are removed from the ocean and recycled with ReSea Project, a Danish organisation committed to removing plastic from the ocean. 

PLUS, in February only, YOU can WIN a case of its wonderful, tasty wines. The case will include a selection of its popular wines, including its Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Rosé 2021, Chardonnay 2021 and Shiraz 2020. 

To celebrate smashing the miletone, The Hidden Sea has co-penned this letter from the ocean with British Marine Biologist Madeline St Clair appealing for everyone to use their voice in the fight against plastic.

I’m your playground. Your romantic getaway. Your full-moon party. 

I’M YOUR DUMP! 

These dirty bottles move in the tides of careless neglect and do-nothing politics. 

They travel my waves from the Arctic Sea to the Adelaidean shore. 

Plastic chokes the life out of me. It chokes us all. And if I die, we all die. 

BUT YOU CAN FIX THIS. 

You can use your voice, your power, your platform.

The Hidden Sea vineyards are in South Australia, which 26 million years ago, was covered by the Great Southern Ocean and home to a thriving marine ecosystem. A series of dramatic ice ages caused the ocean to recede, leaving the soil rich with nutrients and deep limestone deposits for the grapes to flourish today. The whale drawing on every bottle pays homage to an ancient fossilised whale skeleton that was discovered near one of their vineyards in Wrattonbully.
