Well, research from One4all, the Post Office gift card, shows that the nation spends 54% of the money which has been gifted to them at Christmas on bills and other essentials, rather than presents for themselves.

A survey of 1,000 UK adults carried out by One4all, discovered that unexpected costs were one of the main reasons why Brits do this instead of purchasing items on their Christmas wish lists, with 26% citing this as the primary reason.
